This is my Disney Painting. This is a painting of a scene from the movie Star Wars. This painting was created using acrylic paint. This was a challenging but fun painting for me. I had never used shading in painting before so this was a new skill for me. The skill of being to add value to my paintings through shading will help me immensely on any future paintings. The main art elements used in this painting were value, shape and color. Value was used to define where in the landscape something was or how far away, and color was used to define what was what in the painting such as telling the background from the foreground. A design Element used in this painting was emphasis, the background is intentionally darker the higher up it goes giving a realistic feel. The mood this painting gives me is one of happiness because that is the feeling I get when I watch Star Wars.
This is my Dream time painting. This was created using acrylic paint on paper. This was a fun project for me, and a new skill that I learned when creating this painting was that adding water to acrylic paint makes the paint look better and travel much smother across the paper. The main art elements that I used in this painting were line, space, and color. Space is utilized to make the images look like they are simply floating off into the abyss. Color is used to tell the story of coming out of the darkness into the light. A design element that was used was pattern, making triangles within a triangle. This painting provides me with a feeling of mischief and hope.
This is is a drawing of a Rhino, using pen and Ink on standard paper. This is an abstract look to a rhino, defining the values of the drawing using hatching and stippling. These drawing techniques really bring the value of the Rhino out, showing it in 3d. A skill that I had never used before that I used in this drawing is cross hatching to shade the background. This skill really broadens my horizons allowing me to define value in my drawings even better than before. Cross hatching helps for areas that are supposed to be very dark. The main art and design elements that were used to create this drawing were line and value. The thickness of the hatching lines decides how light or dark the specific part of the drawing will be. Value is created by using these lines to define the curves, shadows, and edges of the drawing. These art elements combine to give off a sense of abstract creativity, since it is a drawing created using only lines and dots.
This is my Self Portrait drawing, created with strictly pencil and paper. This image I believe is a fairly accurate representation of my real face. A skill that I have improved on from drawing this picture is being able to define the values of a face using shading. The main art and design elements used to create this drawing were line and value. Line plays the role of defining the shape and outline of the head and body. The lines must be the right size and proportion to make the head accurate and fill up the whole page.Value plays the role of defining the bumps and curve's of the face. To me this drawing represents me as a person.
This drawing is a two point perspective drawing of a room. This drawing was created using pencil and paper. A new skill that was improved upon while making this drawing was my ability to arrange items in a room too the proper proportions and area. I also feel that this drawing has strengthened my overall ability to draw with two point perspective. The main art element that is used in this drawing is line, Line is used too give the image it's realistic three dimensional look. Line also helps to make the image look like a room the way they are all arranged. The design element which is used is space. The pieces of the room must be spaced out to the correct proportions in order to be accurate. To me this drawing gives me a feeling of peace and calm, because that is what my real room makes me feel.
This is a self portrait painting of myself from three different angles. This drawing was created using water color paint and painting paper. A new skill that I learned when painting this painting was the water color paint can be opaque, allowing for new layers of paint to cover up places which errors were made. This will prove to be a useful skill in the future when painting with water colors. The main art element which is used in this painting is color. Color does many things in this painting such as helping to give the painting an accurate interpretation of what I look like. Also color helps give the image value by using darker colors for shading. A design element which is used in this painting is space. The parts of the face must be in the correct spots on the face in order for the painting to look real, also the size of each head is important. This painting makes me feel good about myself because it displays me in a positive manner by using bright colors.
This is my leaf watercolor painting. This was painted with a brush, using water color on white paper. This painting is of fall leaves, which are so vibrant and colorful. Before this painting I was not comfortable with using water colors or painting in general, but now after I have completed this painting I feel much more comfortable. I learned how to use lighter colors such as yellow as the base layer, then add the darker colors on top to get the best visual. This technique will help me greatly as I go forward with watercolors. The main art elements that I used in this painting were color and value. Color was used to create the layers of the image, lighter leaves in the front and darker in the back. Value is used to show where one leaf ends and another begins, along with the contour of the leaves and the background. A Design element that was used is space. The leaves were painted much larger than they actually were, allowing the whole space of the painting to be filled. The feeling that I fell this painting gives off is one of peace and quite. It makes me imagine walking down a quite trail with leaves falling down.
This is a drawing of a hallway inside Mount Si High School. This drawing was created using a pencil, ruler, and paper. This image to me looks very similar to the hallway, although there are some details that I feel I could do better on such as the ceiling. This was the first two point hallway that I have ever drawn, and I feel that it has strengthened my two point perspective drawing abilities greatly. A new skill that I learned was how to draw with vanishing points that are outside the paper. The main art element that is used in this drawing is line. All of the lines go back to a vanishing point to give the drawing a very realistic look. The lines also come together to make the drawing three dimensional. Design elements that I have used are value and space. The image would not look real if the space of the lines and the vanishing points were too close, or too far away, the perfect spacing must be found.Value is used to add to the 3-D feel using shadows. To me this drawing expresses logic and truth. All the lines are perfectly straight and work together to make the image. When looking at the image I automatically know that it is a hallway, and that is why I feel the drawing is logical.
